Once

My roommate and I decided to get a Netflix subscription for the summer instead of ordering cable while we're here in Wichita, and it looks like I might actually have free time, so I'm going to be watching quite a few movies. You might be reading a few movie reviews throughout the summer, and I will add a list of the movies that I watch, in case you're curious. Don't judge me by my choices, though!
Last night and this morning, I watched an independent film titled "Once." The storyline follows a songwriter and street musician living in Ireland who meets another musician on the streets who is entranced by his music and joins him in creating some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. The film won the Oscar for "Best Original Song" and the writers are definitely deserved. Maybe it's because I'm an aspiring songwriter, or maybe it's because the characters take risks in life and love, or maybe it's just because of the gorgeous music, but I fell in love with this film. The language is pretty rough and you might have to turn on the subtitles to interpret the English through their thick accents, but this film is a picture of embracing your gifts, running in the direction that you wish to go, but living in constant regard to what is happening in the here and now.

Just kidding. Actually from your description it looks like a really cool movie I'll want to check out. IF I can find it at a Japanese rental shop... hmm...
